Every year the running of Durham Pagan Pride Day depends on volunteers with different types of skills.
We are currently looking for volunteers for the following categories:
- Operations
Description: To help setup and take down event canopies, posters, etc on the day of the event.
Please advise if you can only be there for setup or take down.
- First Aid
Description:Serves as part of the Event Assitance Team and reports to Nathan.Remain on-call and
on-site during the scheduled hours of the event to care for any medical emergencies that may occur among guests
and staff. Will maintain communication with the Resource Table personnel (check-in,
check-out, advise if need to leave the site).
Special Requirements:
- First Aid training with current certificate is required. A photocopy of the certificate must be
presented to one of the Coordinators prior to the start of the event. *
- CPR certification with current certificate is an asset. A photocopy of the certificate must be presented
to one of the Coordinators prior to the start of the event.*
- Original photo ID for verification purposes. A photocopy of the ID must be presented to one of the
Coordinators prior to the start of the event.*
We request that volunteers bring any First Aid supply kits they may own, but basic first aid supplies
will also be available at the Resource Table.
* When making photocopies, include your photo ID on the same page as your certificates.
Photocopies must be presented to one of the Coordinators before the event.
- Event Assistance Team
Description:Serves as part of the Event Assitance Team and reports to Nathan.Remain on-call and
on-site during the scheduled hours of the event to care for any security emergencies that may occur among guests
and staff. Will maintain communication with the Resource Table personnel (check-in, check-out, advise if need
to leave the site).
Special Requirements:
- Background in law and security, corrections or policing
- Must have at least 1 year field time in the above
- Original photo ID. A photocopy of the ID must be presented to one of the Coordinators before the event.
- Resource Table
DescriptionResource Table personnel are the first contact many of our guests will have with our event.
They carry the responsibility of representing the local Pagan Community as well as the Pagan Pride Day Project
to the public, and providing appropriate information and resources to guests and media. They also act as a hub
of communication and central resource area to Coordinators and guests during the event.
Time Requirement:1 hour shifts will be scheduled prior to the event
Tasks:
- Greet and interact with guests and media (media to be directed to the Local Coordinator: Kim Coley)
- Provide information related to the Pagan Pride Day Project, our specific event, and the daily schedule
- Communicate with Coordinators and appropriate personnel in the event of a Police, Fire or Medical
emergency, or inquiries that pertain to their specific areas
- Gather information from guests that may be requested for mailing lists, polls etc.
- Provide appropriate security for any monies and donations that are collected, as well as prizes,
tickets, etc. that may be stationed at the Resource area.
Special Requirements:
- Must be comfortable communicating in person in a professional and friendly manner
- Must be able to react appropriately in an emergency
- Must be familiar with the information supplied in any written materials provided at the event,
as well as information provided on our Website and Facebook pages
- Be recognized as having a general knowledge of Paganism and being able to communicate that knowledge
in a manner appropriate to our event
